Built by Chantier Naval Biot near Antibes on the Côte d'Azur, 'Lady Hawk' will spend long periods in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Pacific. The influences of earlier yachts, especially 'Whirlwind XII, 'Garuda' and 'Gleam' will aid this progressive cutter to cruise in these diverse areas. Ron Holland Yacht Design is constantly assessing the flow of information received from completed yachts and is building this knowledge and experience into new projects.

‘Lady Hawk' is designed for safe and comfortable world cruising with a small crew. At 105 feet in overall

enable us to maintain our highest standards more simply, with greater economy and ease of use.

Our future designs will be as beautiful and comfortable as the best of today's yachts but behind the well finished panelling there will be systems to provide higher standards of reliability, value and convenience.

Each of my designs is an evolutionary step towards an ever-growing level of understanding and experience.

This is a stimulating period for the designer of luxury sailing yachts. Never before have so many people become excited by the prospect of owning these magnificent vessels and enjoying the lifestyle only possible aboard such a yacht. Suddenly hard headed businessmen also realise they could be acquiring an appreciating asset.

I am often asked which of my yachts is my favourite. While several of the designs featured in this book come to mind, due either to their racing success or their positive influence on my business, in fact the latest commission is always my favourite design. The opportunity to create a new yacht that expresses both the client's requirements and my latest design ideas is a very exciting prospect.

There is already a contrast between the yachts I am designing today and the existing fleet. I can visualise a continuing development that will allow me to produce designs of improved beauty, performance and practicability which could not have been envisaged before the availability of lightweight building materials, automated sail handling equipment and satellite communication systems.

Reflecting on these thoughts and considering the continuing development in all fields I am confident that the best, most exhilarating designs are yet to come.
